Celebrating the history of blues and the contributions of African American musicians to the legacy of Ferriday, Louisiana, the first Soul Survivors Festival was held in May of 2010. Live music, food, vendors, and kids‚ are all part of our Soul Survivors Festival.
Comfort Suites Riverfront, Vidalia, LA, is the official hotel of the 2010 Songwriter's Workshop.
The hotel is located on the RiverWalk on Front Street.
Plus, Sylvia Johns Richie and her Music Students, and a Youth Church Choir will entertain and inspire. There will be a Flea Market and Bake Sale the morning of the festival.
In 2010, a Mississippi Blues Marker, one of the few to be placed outside the state of Mississippi, was unveiled on the lawn of the Delta Music Museum. The marker speaks of Haney's Big House, a Ferriday club frequented by greats like B. B. King, Fats Domino, and others as part of the ‘Chitlin Circuit.’ This year, a Blues Marker will be unveiled in Natchez honoring Y Z Ealey and his brother Theodis.
